I'm no schlump, but I have decided I could kick it up a notch... so, I tried to be more thoughtful in my planning and took pics of some of my vacation outfits. I do have a tendency to OVERpack. Is there a woman out there who UNDERpacks? I would seriously like to meet her. I am traveling alone tomorrow, so I don't have Handsome Hubby or Sweet Son to schlep my stuff and am thinking going lighter might be a good idea...
Tunic - White House/Black Market Skinny Cropped White Jeans - Gap Outlet Wedge Sandals - White House/Black Market |
We have a reception and dinner to attend the first night... dressy (beach) casual... this outfit will be accented by some silver and turquoise jewelry. After I took this pic, I switched out the skinny cropped jeans for the exact same version, but in ankle length because I decided I could roll them up if I want to wear them cropped, or keep them the longer length if it's cooler out.
Daytime... I am hitting the beach! I love these mix and match swimsuit pieces from Land's End ... black cover-up from Kohl's and my favorite pewter and rhinestone Havaiana's. I scored these on clearance last year at Loft, and now understand why people pay so much for them... they never lose their shape and feel SO good on your foot!
Night number two and another reception and dinner to attend... found this longer tunic at T.J. Maxx, which I am pairing up with some cropped leggings from Kohl's and the White House/Black Market sandals from the night before. Silver jewelry and a flowy black cardi in case it's chilly...
I'm going pretty basic on the jewelry, all silver and/or turquoise and most of it is costume so if it gets lost or stolen I won't be devastated... large hoop earrings, some bangles (they make me feel like Stevie Nicks), a cuff, a couple of rings, one extra pair of fun earrings and a necklace with a couple of changeable pendants.
Turquoise Tank - Kohl's Cardi and Magenta Tank - Penney's |
Also packed a couple of cute embellished tanks... and a lightweight grey cardi which I will pair with either distressed jeans or a khaki skirt for travelling and shopping in town... this cardi is awesome, very thin and 3/4 length sleeves, just perfect for the plane or restaurant when I always seem to get cold.
Since it IS the beach, have to have at least one cute little short's ensemble... these tailored dark chambray shorts from Target are SO comfy, and look darn cute with this top I bought last year at the Banana Republic Outlet.
Finally, I found this GREAT tote bag at T.J.Maxx to be used as an airplane carry-on with my purse, magazines and Kindle tucked inside and then repurposed for my beach bag once I arrive... cute sunglasses also from T.J. Maxx and my FAVORITE pewter Yellow Box wedge sandals for traveling and shopping (did I say shopping again?) because they match everything and I could run a marathon in these puppies...
DISCLAIMER: Being a woman I reserve the right to change my mind... hence the 5 or 6 additional items I crammed in the suitcase just before zipping. So, if you happen to see pics of this trip and I'm not wearing one of the afore mentioned ensembles... well, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

I need you to be my stylist/personal shopper for Florida! I HATE shopping, have no style, but really like to look nice. A bad, bad, bad combination!
Love your outfits! I do the same just before zipping I scrounge up some room for more!
Very cute! <3 You have great taste ;) My favorite outfit is probably the top one, with the white skinny jeans! I could never get away with anything white ;D I also love the colorful tunic with the black leggings!!
*Hugs!*

You are going to look great and be comfy too--have a great trip!
Cute outfits . . . cramming several more options in at the last minute sounds just like me.
Great picks. I like the first outfit. =)

I am incredibly impressed with your packing abilities~ I always overpack and always end up wearing only a fraction of it. I am learning! Have a wonderful trip to the beach!
I think you're going to look awesome on your trip. I hope you're there now, enjoying the sunshine!
It's freezing today in Pennsylvania, and I'm totally jealous of your beachy vacation.
