First of all let me apologize if you are not a sporty type, but I can't let today go by without a shout-out to my basketball peeps... don't me wrong, I couldn't shoot a 3 pointer (or possibly even a free throw) if my life depended on it, but I am possibly the world's greatest spectator. Without a doubt, I am happy as a pig in
you-know-what if I am at ANY type of sporting event. This week my town is hosting the MOTHER of all sporting events,
The Final Four. Argue all you want, but I truly believe this is the best of all sports championships... your team is never a sure thing, an 11 seed is just as likely as a 1 seed to make it to the BIG DANCE. If you have ever filled out a Final Four bracket in hopes of winning $10 from your 11 year old
(hanging my head in shame), then you know all bets are OFF when it comes to March Madness.
My bracket was blown LONG ago... actually, I'm pretty sure everyone in my house got sunk somewhere around the Sweet Sixteen. I am cheering for
Butler tonight, because I am just a sucker for an underdog (and I think their coach is so stinking adorable). My daddy (a.k.a. Big Daddy) is a
Vanderbilt alum, and if there was ever a perennial underdog, it's those darn Commodores. But isn't that the beauty of sports? There's always hope, always next year, always a clean slate and a fresh scoreboard. So, with great apologies to my beloved Longhorns (who lost WAY too early for my liking) today I am a bracket bustin' BULLDOG! LET'S GO DAWGS!

Awesome post! A little friendly sports rivelry is always healthy.
Go UCONN!
Hey! There is always football season, its right around the corner and I'll be stocking up on UT gear!! I hear they are probably going to have a new QB!!
Thanks so much for featuring my vintage basketball book. I love March Madness and how it brings out the sports enthusiast in all of us!
cheers!
I don't really get into the March madness thing, despite the fact that I played basketball in elementary school and really liked playing it. I just never got into watching it. The only team I root for one way or another is usually to root against Duke. What can I say? I always go for the underdogs and Duke (as a school and as a basketball team) is pretty much the antithesis of the underdog. So, I'll be happy to root for Butler with you!!
My 4 year old had Butler winning it all, he picked on his own,. When I asked him why, he told be that Butler was his favorite player because he had "butt" in his name" yes he won the pool.
I'm not a sporty person, but I'm glad you enjoy them!!! :)
