I love this. LOVE THIS. At 45 it has taken me... well, 45 years to understand the real truth in this statement. I spent most of my life trying to keep all the balls in the air at once, trying to make sure everyone was happy, having fun, pleased with everything I was doing or every decision I made. Turning 40 (and yes, it is such a CLICHE) changes you. I make decisions now based on what is best for me, my family, or the "greater good"... that usually means SOMEONE is not going to be happy. Shockingly, I learned this has not left me with any fewer friends or loved ones (at least not any that matter) and it HAS left me with considerably less stress and more peace of mind. Try it... it is freeing.
I do like to please Dear Daughter, and she was NOT pleased when she read my blog and I mentioned we bought this shell sign on a vacation to Amelia Island:

EEK. I stand corrected.

Very funny and dead on post! Try to please everyone and you will end up pulling your hair out!
How cute! ;] I love that sign though.
LOL! I am constntly reminding my husband what Santa brought - he is so forgetful. Yes I agree keeping all those balls in the air is EXHAUSTING!
It's always good to outgrow 'the disease to please!' Been there, done that!
Sissy, all I can say is that you got it honest and from way back.
And my goodness, how could you forget where that sign came from? Unforgiveable!!!
Love you and love the post.
Hey, sometimes the chubby guy in the red suit gets too much credit. Great post.
