I am normally pretty conservative in the nail polish department... french on my hands (or maybe super dark purple around the holidays if I'm feeling a little wild and CRAZY) and bright pink or red on my toes. I've become a bit obsessed with the new Shellac manicures. Honest to goodness, this stuff stays shiny, chip-free and FAB for a good 14 days... three weeks if I'm a really good girl and don't spray paint them or use them to open coke cans. This manicure right here is four days old and looking good as new...
Lately I've been reading so many great fashion blogs by everyday chicks like me, I was inspired to step out of that boring box where my little piggies live. Ummmm... not so sure about this box however...
In honor of our summer swim team champs meet that is coming up I was thinking green, but just couldn't go whole hog GATOR GREEN and ended up with Mermaid Tears by OPI which is more of a turquoise (we just saw Pirates of the Carribean, so it seemed appropriate although I still argue that mermaids are NOT evil and will not kiss you, bite you, and then drag you to the bottom of the ocean to kill you... I prefer my mermaids of the Ariel variety, thank you very much).
Except every time I catch a glimpse of my toes I think they either have frostbite or have molded. And of course Sweet Son walked in on the toe photo session (Uh mom... WHY are you taking pictures of your feet?).
If YOU are feeling way more rebellious than you will ever catch me being (or if you are a TWEEN because Dear Daughter and her friends are ALL OVER THIS) you could try the new Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat. Dear Daughter will be sporting the Distressed Denim in this combo for the meet this weekend to represent our Green and Blue Gator team colors...
Yeah... good for her, but Mama is NOT going in that box.

Nice mani! I usually mess mine up in the garden, or shelling. Hit my thumb with the drill the other day and took off a chunk of polish. I love to wear dark colors...purple, pinks, reds, and browns.
The new colors are so not for me.
Ten Year Old was treated to a pedicure yesterday by her great aunt. Her toes are now, literally, the brightest shade of pink I've ever seen. It's retina burning. :)
OMG! Totes obsessed with shellac! (as teen daughter would say) But in all seriousness, have been a very outspoken fan of shellac for the past few months. It's just hard to text or turn the page on my Kindle with my nose since the fingers soak in that jar of ? for so long. Older daughter aka princess has the manicurist turning pages, so no prob for her...
I haven't had a manicure in so long I forgot what it was like! I've do my own nails and always pick a pale pink in varying shades. Maybe I should venture out of the box...
Have you seen that matte navy blue polish (OPI maybe?)? I've been dying to try that but keep wondering if I can pull it off. My fingers are usually plain because I can't keep my hands still long enough to let them dry, toes pink or red. Ho hum!
I like the blue on YOU, but I feel the same way when I try blue or green on MY toes...like they are bruised or moldy or something,.,,yellow is even worse!
I love bright nail polish! I just think it's fun to add some color, and if you hate it, you can always take it off!
I don't do "weird" nailpolish, either. It's pretty much red or nothing.
It is amazing what nail polish can do for your 'inner' glow. I'm kind of a beige person rather than anything colorful. Your manicure looks great.
I'm hopping over from the Almost Friday Hop and now following you via GFC
I am a natural girl on hands because don't want the polish to rub off on customers' paper, but just heard of shellac. Going to try it next week! Love pink or red on my toes always!
Wow, that sounds great. I always do my toes but never my hands because I don't have time to do them daily and they always chip and look worse than natural so quickly. The lady at ULTA just turned me on to this spray that you use on your nails after you're done and it dries them instantly. That's a huge bonus for my 12 year old daughter who puts the polish on so darn thick that it takes eons to dry.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I bought a turquoise nail polish last year and I feel the exact same about it! At first I felt like an alien because it seemed to make my hands/fingers look bluer? I don't even know if that is possible, but the mind can play tricks... Now I've gotten used to it, especially with all the colourful nail polish out there this season :)
